Musharraf ‘can’t be’ president

LAHORE, Nov 17: Gen.Pervez Musharraf cannot legally become president as long as he does not resign as chief of army staff and seek vote from parliament, says Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith chief Prof.Sajid Mir.

In a statement on Sunday, he said MNAs had buried the Legal Framework Order by taking oath under the 1973 Constitution.

He said the army government wanted a prime minister of its choice by causing defections among political parties and politicians should foiled these attempts through their unity.

He urged politicians not to compromise even on a single clause of the LFO to permanently solve the problem of military intervention in civilian affairs.— Staff Reporter
