Ashraf`s century leads Omar Veterans to win

KARACHI, Nov 21: Omar Associates beat Ideal Veterans by 21 runs on Monday at the Hill Park Cricket Ground to confirm their place in the semi-final of the third PVCA Veterans Twenty20 Tournament.

Omar Associates won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 170 for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Ashraf Pakhali scored a brilliant unbeaten 105 off just 68 balls, hitting 12 fours and three sixes to take his team to a strong total.

Munirul Haque also chipped in with a quick 23 off 31 balls. For Ideal Veterans, Taufiq Tirmizi and Fawad Ijaz Khan took one wicket each for 30 and 40 runs respectively.

In reply Ideal Veterans could only manage 149 for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. Baber Basharat scored 60 in 54 balls with the help of seven fours while skipper Fawad Ijaz Khan remained not out with a fluent 46 in 36 deliveries with the help of four boundaries. Shoukat Rajput of Omar Associates took two wickets for 21 runs.

Ashraf Pakhali of Omar Associates was later declared the Man of the Match.—Agencies
