City project envisaged for `outsiders`: Qureshi
THATTA, Nov 25: The Zulfikarabad city project was conceived with an aim to settle “outsiders” and convert Sindhis into a minority on their own land, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman Basheer Khan Qureshi said here on Friday.
“Property deeds for over 200,000 acres of land belonging to locals are being cancelled to acquire land for the project,” Mr Qureshi said in a speech to party workers who staged a sit-in against the project near the bypass here on Friday.Qureshi said the locals who had held the land for generations would foil “such conspiracies”.
Establishment of Zulfikarabad was a conspiracy against Sindh and his party would continue to protest against it, the JSQM chief said.
He accused President Asif Zardari of working against Sindh's interests, saying the province was not an “international orphanage to resettle outsiders”.
Bashir Qureshi alleged that a “particular ethnic group” was exploiting resources of Sindh and if the situation remained unchanged it would harm the country's integrity.
The rulers had allowed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to rule half of Sindh, the JSQM chief said.
