Akbar Afridi named envoy to Maldives

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: The government has appointed Said Akbar Afridi as high commissioner of Pakistan to the Republic of Maldives.

Said Akbar Afridi was born in 1949 and holds a master’s degree in English.

He joined Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1978 and held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistani missions abroad: Muscat (1981-1984), Kuwait (1987-1990), Maputo (1990-1992) and Jalalabad (1997-2001).

Mr Afridi served at headquarters as section officer (1978- 1979, 1981 and 1984-1986), director (1986, 1992, 1996) and remained on deputation to Board of Investment (1996-1997).

Presently, he is serving as a director since March 2001. — APP
