Balochistan score narrow win in women hockey
LAHORE, Dec 14: Solitary goal of the match by Rozeena Tooti Khan helped Balochistan beat Sindh Colours 1-0 in the National Women Hockey Championship, which resumed on Wednesday at the National Hockey Stadium here after one day rest.
Balochistan, a lowly-rated team of the event, earned the incredible win against rather strong side of Sindh when Rozeena struck the all important goal in the first half.
In another low scoring game, Punjab Whites defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2-0. Abida and Raisa scored both the goals in second half.
Five-goal international Ayesha Bashir helped Wapda give a hockey lesson to Sindh Whites with a 14-0 triumph. Azra Nasir (3), Uzma Lal (2), Rabia Qadir (2), Iram Bukhari (1) and Neelma Hussain (1) were the other scorers for Wapda.
Maria Sabir hit two goals to guide Railways, a traditional and potential rival of Wapda for the top spot, defeated Army 3-1. Asma Ashraf struck the remaining one goal for the winners, while the only goal for the losing side came from Shahida.
In the other fixture, Mahmona banged home one goal to enable Higher Education Commission beat Punjab Colours 1-0.
