Aamir Atlas crowned squash champion

LAHORE: Top seed Aamir Atlas Khan won the Pakistan International Squash Circuit tournament, eliminating the challenge from sixth seed Farhan Zaman in a well-contested final at the Punjab Squash Complex here on Wednesday.

Aamir spent 52 minutes on the court to overcome spirited Farhan in the five-game final with the score being 11-4, 11-8, 8-11, 8-11, 11-8.

Aamir with his attacking game won the first two games. But Farhan roared back to give tough time to his rival by capturing the next two games.

It was the last laugh for Farhan as Aamir was not ready to throw his authority so easily.

After some see-saw moments, Aamir, keeping his attacking game, finally grabbed the decisive fifth game to complete the win.

Besides the trophy, Aamir received $1,900 as cash prize from squash legend Jahangir Khan. Farhan earned $1,300.

A total amount of $10,000 was distributed among the players. Only Pakistan’s players took part in the event.
