Many booked for cheating in exam
KARACHI, Dec 31: Over 40 candidates were booked for using “unfair means” on the first day of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (supplementary) examinations-2011 which began on Friday at 56 examination centres (28 each for male and female) set up at colleges of the city.
The exams being held under the aegis of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi will continue till Jan 5.
In all 33,623 candidates (18,450 male and 15,173 female) belonging to all groups — science, humanities, commerce and home economics — are taking the exams.
Giving details of the unfair means (UFM) cases reported on Friday, a spokesperson for the BIEK said that of the total 45 candidates booked for using unfair means in the examinations held on Friday, 18 cases had been detected by board chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai himself during his surprise visit to the centres while remaining 27 UFM cases were reported by different vigilance committees of the board.
The spokesperson said that during the visit the BIEK chief was accompanied by controller of examinations Mohammad Imran Chishti and secretary Prof Haider Ali Naveen.
The BIEK chief ordered cancellation the results of all those candidates who had appeared at the centers of their own choice.—Staff Reporter
