Hard-earned wins for Faisalabad, Bahawalpur

LAHORE, Dec 31: Four more matches were decided in the second PHF Inter-Academy Hockey Tournament at the Sialkot Hockey Stadium.In the toughest matches of the day, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur earned wins against Bannu and Gojra, respectively by identical margins of 2-1.

Bannu took lead when Atif scored a goal in the 16th minute, but Faisalabad roared back, scoring the equaliser in the 26th minute through Rizwan and the winner through M Shan in the 59th minute.

Bahawalpur earned lead against Gojra in the 38th minute when Sohail Yousuf scored a field goal. Zohab Khan doubled the lead in the 57th minute before Gojra reduced the margin by scoring through Mubashir in the 68th minute.

In the third match Sialkot bulldozed Quetta with 14-0 triumph, thanks to Nohaiz Zahid who banged home five goals in the 5th, 7th, 25th, 28th and 49th minutes.

Mohammad Ali added three goals in the 9th, 20th and 23rd minutes. Similarly, Hammad Zafar (2nd), M Arsalan (44, 58th) Ali Raza (14th), Aamir Sohail (29th), and Qasim (48th) were other scorers.

In the fourth match Rana M. Atif and Fezan Amjad scored one goal each to help Lahore beat Karachi 2-0.
