Police officer among two killed in Mardan clash

MARDAN: A police sub-inspector and the father of a man said to be a militant ‘commander’ were killed when law-enforcement personnel raided a house in Jungary village of Dubai Adda area on Friday morning.

A search operation was carried out in a remote town of Mardan district on information about the presence of Tariq and other militants.

The search team led by DSP Nosher Khan came under attack when it proceeded towards the house of Tariq.

SI Zarnosh Khan of Rustam police station was killed in the attack.

Tariq’s father Bawar Khan was injured when police fired back. He died at the Mardan district headquarters hospital.

According to official sources, four suspected militants, including two brothers of Tariq were arrested. They were identified as Abid, Nadeem, Sardar Hussain and Javed.
