Sindh, Punjab dominate National Junior Snooker

LAHORE, Jan 18: Cueists from Punjab and Sindh dominated the National Junior U-21 Snooker Championship as 16 matches were decided in the event here on Wednesday.

The players from Punjab and Sindh won six matches each, while cueists from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa triumphed in two matches apiece.

For Punjab, Mohammad Majid won both of his matches, while for Sindh Shahzaib Khan remained winners in all two outings to advance in the championship.

Majid first defeated Ghavish Khan of Sindh and then toppled Said Mohammad of Balochistan. Shahzaib registered wins against Abdul Rahim of Punjab Mohammad Kashif of KP.

A total cash prize of Rs105,000 is at stake with the winners to get Rs40,000 and the runners-up Rs20,000. The semi-finalists and quarter-finalists will also pocket Rs10,000 and Rs5,000 each, respectively.

A separate cash prize of Rs5,000 has been kept for the highest break of the championship.

Moreover, the winners and runners-up of the event will also get the opportunity to feature in the Asian U-21 Snooker Championship, being held in Goa, India in April this year.
