Doctors go on hunger strike in Sukkur

SUKKUR, Feb 9: Doctors took out a procession, staged a sit-in and observed token hunger strike on Thursday to protest delay in promotion, absence of time scales, and for regularisation of doctors working under the PPHI and anti-hepatitis programmes.

The procession was taken out from Jacobabad’s civil hospital. The protesters, after marching on major roads, gathered outside the Press Club and carried out a sit-in Abdul Rasheed Memon, A. G. Ansari, Gul Muhammad Buriro, Mohammad Hanif Solangi, Azizullah Talani and Ghansham Ropita observed a token hunger strike for an hour.

The doctors said they the hunger strike was meant to express solidarity with the doctors of Karachi’s Civil Hospital They called upon the government to accept “genuine demands” of doctors.

ROBBERY: A labourer was robbed of cash and motorcycle at gunpoint by robbers in Jacobabad on Thursday.
