Death toll of Parachinar blast reaches 43
PARACHINAR, Feb 19: Two more persons, injured in Friday’s bomb blast in Parachinar, succumbed to their wounds on Sunday, raising death toll to 43.
“Condition of five other injured is also critical,” hospital sources said.
On the third day of mourning in Parachinar, the agency headquarters of Kurram Agency, local religious leaders also held a press conference to condemn the blast. They also flayed the killing of five persons in firing, allegedly opened by personnel of Frontier Corps after the blast.
The leaders of Tehrik-i-Hussaini including its president Mohammad Taqi, Syed Afzal and Abid Hussain demanded of the government to probe the killing of five persons by FC and take action against the personnel responsible for it.
They said that militant commander Fazal Saeed claimed responsibility for the Friday’s blast, which left 43 persons killed and many injured. They demanded of the government to act according to the tribal customs and law and take action against the militant commander.
They asked the government to open the main road otherwise they would be forced to take action on their own.
It is pertinent to mention here that a powerful blast ripped through busy Kurrmi Bazaar after Friday prayers, killing and wounding scores of people. Security forces allegedly opened firing on the local residents, who took to streets and started attacking public and private properties after the blast.
Curfew remained imposed in the town on Saturday, the second consecutive day, and Thall-Parachinar Road was closed to traffic owing to security reasons.
