Brutal killings in Gilgit Baltistan

KILLINGS of passengers on their way to Gilgit should serve as a wake-up call for the government to take this matter more seriously.

Sectarian violence has a history of decades in Gilgit-Baltistan, yet nothing is done to combat the culture of intolerance.

People in the otherwise peaceful Gilgit Baltistan are full of rage and anguish at this brutality. Sincere efforts need to be made to ensure that the murderers are punished, while long-term measures should also be taken to help create an environment of harmony between sects in Gilgit Baltistan, in particular, where such violence breaks out every three or four years, and in the entire country, in general.
