EC accepts PML-N plea against Balochistan Senate polls

QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday accepted for hearing a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz  application filed earlier today against the upholding of the previously declared Senate poll results for seven general seats from Balochistan.

The decision had prompted a furious protest by the party on Monday which threatened to take the matter to the Supreme Court.

The angry PML-N leaders later held a news conference at Punjab House, alleging that the Balochistan Election Commissioner Abdul Jabbar Jamali had backtracked from his own commitment by upholding the previous decision without holding a recount.

Rafiq Rajwana, a lawyer of the PML-N, had made Jamali party in the application.

The application alleged that Jamali was biased and he sided with the ruling members and said that he didn’t know the mechanism of counting ballots.

The application further sought re-counting of the ballots on the seven general seats from the province.—DawnNews
