SC ordered PM to write letter in Swiss case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday in a hearing of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) case, orders Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to write letter to the Swiss authorities, DawnNews reported.

According to DawnNews report, the Court also orders PM to submit his statement till March 19 or to appear in the Court on March 21.

The seven member bench at the Supreme Court headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk heard the NRO implementation case and adjourned Gilani’s contempt case.

The case also dismissed an application requesting not to oversee the NRO case. Abdul Basit advocate said in the application that some 8500 cases were settled in NRO but to oversee only two cases is a distinction.

In the Prime Minister’s contempt of court case, Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq questions Nargis Sethi.

Talking to media persons, PM’s counsel Aitzaz Ahsan said that the PM may appear on March 21.

Moreover he said that he will start his discussions from March 21.

Aitzaz further said that it would be better if Babar Awan appeared in the court as he urged Awan to appear in the court not as an advocate but as a witness.
