Mehrangate: Hashmi ready to face accountability

LAHORE, March 18: PTI leader Javed Hashmi said on Sunday he was ready to face accountability in the Mehrangate case.

Speaking at a press conference here, he said he was the only one who had vehemently raised voice against the scandal in the National Assembly. “I have faced NAB cases and imprisonment but no one can point a finger at me for committing any wrongdoing,” he said, adding that he had refused to become NRO beneficiary.

Hashmi said the PML-N should stop ‘politicising’ the Mehrangate case and face the charges in the court.

He said his brothers and nephews were business partners with advocate Yousuf as they had done nothing wrong and all transactions were legal. “I present myself for accountability in this case,” he said.

Mr Hashmi further said Gen Aslam Baig (retired) played a dirty role in the whole episode. He said unless all the characters allegedly involved in the case presented themselves for accountability the people would take them as suspects.

Flanked by Mian Mahmudur Rashid, Mr Hashmi toed the PML-N line alleging that Younas Habib and advocate Yousuf were the PPP ‘jokers’ who were being used against its rivals.
