Haqqani submits his reply to the commision

ISLAMABAD: Former Ambassador Hussain Haqqani,  a central character of the memo-gate scandal, submitted his response to the memo-commission on Wednesday in which he denied the allegations leveled against him by Mansoor Ijaz, DawnNews reported.

Haqqani’s lawyer submitted the reply to the commission.

According to the contents of the reply, Haqqani confessed having a 16-minute telephonic conversation with Ijaz on May 9, 2011 in which they discussed about Ijaz’s anti-Pakistan stance in his writings.

However, the telephonic talk did not include anything  regarding memo or any kind of message,  Haqqani’s reply claimed.

The commission on Tuesday observed that Haqqani has repeatedly been indulged to comply and granted him three opportunities to complete the exercise.

The last opportunity was granted to Haqqani to complete the admission and denial of all documents, to be produced by 5 p.m. London on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

The Commission directed that the recording of Haqqani’s evidence will commence on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. (PST) at the premises of the Islamabad High Court.

In case Haqqani has any security concerns, it shall be conveyed to the Attorney General who is directed to ensure that he is provided with complete security.
