PHF discourages media statements

LAHORE, March 27: Pakistan Hockey Federation president Qasim Zia has barred players and officials of the Pakistan team to issue statements to the media on policy matters to avoid misunderstanding.

A PHF press-release issued on Tuesday, how-ever, did not highlight the reason why it was released.

The reason must be national team head coach Akhtar Rasool’s statement in which he criticised the condition of the pitch at the National Hockey Stadium where the national hockey camp started on Monday.

The criticism triggered a conflict-like situation between the PHF and the Punjab Sports Board, resulting in power cut off at PHF offices till 4pm on Tuesday.
