J&K receives 48,226 forms for cross border travel

An estimated number of 48,226 applications have been received from Azad Kashmir for cross line of control travel between Jammu and Kashmir and the state, according to a news story in the Indian Express.

The report published in Indian Express states that out of 48,226 applications received, 23,335 were received from Indian nationals till December 31, 2011. Moreover, 17,630 applications have been cleared whilst 5,141 were not recommended for travelling. 264 cases are still under consideration and process.

Furthermore, on Pakistan’s side of the border, 24,891 applications were received from Pakistani nationals till December 31, 2011. Out of the received lot, 19,847 have been cleared, 3,175 were not recommended for travelling whereas 1,869 are still under consideration.

The Jammu and Kashmir government is also considering new policies for triple entry system for senior citizens.
