Curfew relaxed in Gilgit

GILGIT: The government on Monday announced relaxation in the curfew which was imposed in Gilgit after sectarian clashes claimed at least 14 lives, DawnNews reported.

Officials said that the curfew would be relaxed from 2pm to 5pm.

Moreover, people would not be allowed to wear jackets or chadar during this time period.

The town has been under an indefinite curfew since April 3. There was a two-hour relaxation only on Friday.

The region had remained cut off from the rest of the country because of suspension of traffic on Karakoram Highway.
