LAHORE, April 18: An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday directed the Lahore CCPO, the DIG operations and the North Cantonment station house officer to stop the police from harassing Ayesha Ahad Malik.

The judge, Safdar Ali Bhatti, issued this order while disposing of the petition of Ms Malik who had accused senior police officers of harassing her at the behest of PML-N MNA Hamza Shahbaz and Ali Imran Yousuf, son-in law of the chief minister.

Ms Malik, who mentioned herself as wife of Hamza in the petition, alleged that on April 6 last many policemen entered her house and ransacked the valuables. The police also tortured her servants and watchman, she said.

She said the policemen told her that they conducted raid on the orders of Hamza Shahbaz and Ali Imran Yousaf and would continue to do so. The policemen also warned her against pursuing cases against Hamza and calling him her husband, Ms Malik alleged in the petition.

She prayed that criminal cases be registered against Hamza, Imran Yousaf and the police officers concerned. She also requested the court to order the police to provide protection against the threats being hurled by the Punjab rulers.
