Family feud blamed for Mardan hotel murders

MARDAN, April 20: The mystery surrounding murder of four people, including two children, in a hotel room here was resolved when father of the slain man approached city police station and registered an FIR against six persons on Friday, police said.

Taj Mohammad, investigation officer of city police, told media persons that Juma Faqir, father of slain Izzat Faqir, approached the city police station and nominated six persons in the murder case.

In his statement, Mr Juma told police that the victim woman named Nazeera was his daughter-in-law and had married with his son after getting divorce from one Iqbal three years ago. He said that an enmity started between the two families as Iqbal was not happy with the marriage. Mr Juma claimed that this enmity had already claimed life of his other son Nisar about a year ago.

“The lives of my son, his wife and two children were in danger and that was why he was shifting to Karachi along with his family,” he said, adding that they were slaughtered in Shahlimar Hotel when they stayed over there on way to Karachi. Mr Juma, however, nominated six persons including Iqbal, Sultan, Hashim Khan, Azam Khan, Shahroom and Ameer Sultan in the murder case. He said that all the accused belonged to Upper Dir.

The police, meanwhile, said that Upper Dir police had arrested Hashim, who would soon be shifted to city police station of Mardan for investigation.
