RAWALPINDI: Two killed in road accidents

RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, police said on Tuesday.

The first accident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Airport police station in which a person named Ihtesham Liaquat died.

Liaquat-ur-Rehman, a resident of Al-Noor Colony, told the police that his son Ihtesham was heading home on his motorcycle (RIX-1270) when a taxi (IDT-5696) hit him, killing the youth on the spot.

In another accident, an unidentified cyclist was run over by a car near Bara Kahu on Tuesday, police said. The driver escaped from the scene of the accident, police added.

HOUSE LOOTED: A gang of six robbers broke into a house in Westridge on Tuesday, and decamped with cash and gold ornaments, police said.

Amjad Bashir told the police that robbers broke into his house and stole Rs25,000, a gold necklace and a mobile telephone set.

CARS LIFTED: Tariq Pervez Janjua advocate told Waris Khan police that his Honda car (LOG-7273) was stolen from outside his house. Similarly, Altaf Hussain’s car (LOM-5871) was lifted from Westridge.
