Federal government responsible for railway station security: Shahbaz
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said that justice could be manipulated in the country and that terrorists exploited this situation to their advantage, DawnNews reported.
Addressing a ceremony at a police school in Chuhang, Sharif said that the security cameras installed at the Lahore railway station were non-functional. “Cameras installed at all public places are out of order,” Sharif said mockingly.
“The railway station is part of the federal setup and the federal government is responsible for its security,” he said.
The chief minister said that Pakistan had plenty of resources but they were not being managed properly.
He further said that "to combat the war against terror, latest equipment and technical manpower is more important than increased recruitment in the police force."
Sharif's remarks came after an explosive device concealed in a bag went off on platform 2 of Lahore's City Railway Station on Tuesday evening, killing two people and injuring 63 others.
