PTI to launch ‘tsunami march’ if PM refuses to step down

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan on Tuesday announced that his party will organise a march in Islamabad on May 6, 2012 to express solidarity with the Supreme Court.

Moreover, Khan said that he does not consider Yousuf Raza Gilani as the Prime Minister of Pakistan after his sentence by the apex court in the contempt of court case.

Addressing a press conference after a party meeting here in Islamabad, the PTI chief said that if Gilani does not accept the SC’s verdict, then the PTI would launch a ‘tsunami march’.

Answering a question, Khan said that if members of parliament and Punjab Assembly belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) tender their resignations now, his party could hold talks for a joint campaign for the government’s removal.

Furthermore, he stressed that holding free, fair and transparent elections at the earliest was the solution to all problems faced by the country.

Khan also said that the PTI would hold a public meeting at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi later this month.
