SWABI, May 4: Leaders of protesting workers of Fauji Corn Complex, Jahangira, said here on Friday that two high officials from the FCC head office in Rawalpindi would reach here on Saturday (today) to listen to their demands and offer solution.

They said that these officials were coming after Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti contacted the FCC authorities in Rawalpindi for solution of the workers problems. The factory was abruptly closed on Monday last, leaving its about 300 workers jobless.

Mohim Shah, leader of the workers, said that their protest would continue till reopening of the factory.

Awami National Party leader Haji Rehmanullah, independent MPA Sardar Ali and two leaders of the workers briefed the chief minister about the FCC workers problems in Peshawar on Friday. However, Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan chairman Shahram Khan told this correspondent that he was left out of delegation due to political rivalry.

The workers want reopening of the factory or a ‘golden handshake’.

When contacted, Mr Rehmanullah said that Mr Hoti contacted the FCC high officials sitting in Rawalpindi and they would visit the factory in Jahangira on Saturday (today) to listen to the workers demands.

“The chief minister wants reopening of the factory and ensuring the rights of workers according to the labour laws,” he said.

Meanwhile, ANP MNA Pervaiz Khan visited the protest camp and said that all the lawmakers would support the workers, as closing a factory without a notice to workers was a serious violation of labour laws. PTI RALLY: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf leaders and workers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would gather at Swabi interchange for ‘Save Judiciary Rally” on Sunday and would proceed in a procession to Islamabad.

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, PTI central leader Jehanzeb Bahadar and district president Sohail Khan said that it had been planned that processions from all over the province would reach here at 11am and then proceed to Islamabad.

They said that the PTI rally in Islamabad would be a no-confidence against the PPP rulers who failed to implement the Supreme Court verdict. They said that a convicted prime minister should leave his office.
