LARKANA: Fake NICs case accused changes statement
LARKANA, Dec 10: Mehar Bozdar, the main accused in the case of preparing fake National Identity Cards, here on Tuesday deviated from his earlier statement, in which he had alleged MNAs Khalid Iqbal Memon and Hizbullah Bughio and MPA-elect Ayaz Soomro had asked him to prepare hundreds of fake NICs before election.
He submitted such an application before the first additional session judge, Larkana, Abdul Ghani Soomro.
The two MNAs and the MPA-elect, who are on bail, appeared along with the other accused, Mohammad Umar Soomro, Ghulam Abbas Soomro, Aslam Arain, Khalid Kamboh, Ghulam Serwar Jagirani and Aijaz.
The case was adjourned till Jan 11. Bozdar alleged that investigation officer Ashraf Lashari had forced him to accuse the MPs of ordering NICs by arresting his son and other members of his family. He said that his earlier confessional statement should now be treated as rejected and invalid.
He had made the confessional statement before the third judicial magistrate when he had been arrested before the general election.
The district and session judge had also issued non-bailable warrants against Altaf Bozdar and Ghulam Qadir, who had also been nominated in the FIR, but are still at large.
JSQM: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman Bashir Qureshi said here on Tuesday there is no harm in supporting Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s candidate for the slot of provincial chief minister.
He was talking to newsmen at the hunger-strike camp in Jinnahbagh, where 20 JSQM activists observed a token hunger strike against failure of the Khairpur police to arrest the killers of a party worker, Aziz Phul.
Qureshi said that it made no difference whether chief minister of Sindh was from the People’s Party Parliamentarians, Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Muttahida or any other party as the real power vested in Punjab and the things would not change overnight.
He said that the PPP was opposing the Muttahida’s candidature for chief minister without any reason, adding that the JSQM considered the Urdu-speaking people a part of Sindhi “nation”.
He said that with the installation of new chief minister in the province, anti-Sindh plans would begin and, in this connection, referred to the statement of President Gen Parvez Mushrraf on the construction of Kalabagh dam and on-going project of Thal canal.
