KARACHI, May 28: After an exhilarating ninety minutes of high quality soccer, Rooney United Faisalabad successfully triumphed over Carrick United Karachi to be crowned Zong United Kickoff Football Tournament champions.

The score in the stiplulated time remained 0-0 with the fiercely contested match then going into overtime and still failing to produce a result.

The well-balanced rivals then took the contest to the penalty kicks phase where yet again no result could be achieved. So the match finally went into sudden death where a momentary lapse in concentration by the Carrick United goalkeeper provided Rooney United a fitting victory by 1-0.

Both sides demonstrated good, competitive game in the final with not a single player getting fined or booked for any offence during the entire match.

The players from both teams have now successfully qualified to participate in a 5-day training program at Manchester United’s state-of-the-art Soccer School in Abu Dhabi which is a proud moment for them indeed. —Agencies
