Names of RPP accused to be put on ECL: NAB
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) wrote to the Federal Interior Ministry on Friday, asking it to include all the accused in the rental power case, on the Exit Control List (ECL), DawnNews reported.
Included in the list of accused is the former federal minister for water and power and current Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
“We have written a letter to the interior ministry to put the names of all accused in the case on the ECL,”, said NAB Spokesperson Zafar Iqbal.
Iqbal did not clarify whether the letter had been written before or after Raja Pervaiz Ashraf took the Prime Minister's office.
Others included in the list of accused are Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi and Tariq Hameed, former finance minister Shaukat Tarin, former secretaries of water and power Shahid Rafi, Muhammad Ismail Qureshi and Ishfaq Mehmood, former finance secretary Salman Siddique, former chairmen of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) Khalid Saeed and Lt-Gen (retd) Saeed Uz Zafar, Genco chief executive officer Yousaf Ali, former managing directors of the Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB) Khalid Irfan Rahman, Fayyaz Elahi and Yousaf Memon, former managing directors of the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) Tahir Basharat Cheema and Munawar Baseer Ahmad and Pepco chief executive officers Muhammad Arif Saleem, Fazal Ahmad Khan and Chaudhry Muhammad Anwar.
Though some sources say that the Federal Interior Ministry is hesitant to carry out the instructions as the list of accused includes the name of the incumbent prime minister.
