Zardari and Altaf discuss cooperation

KARACHI, June 29: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain called on President Asif Zardari in London on Friday evening and discussed with him the overall political situation in the country, with particular reference to the law and order situation in Karachi.

An MQM spokesman told Dawn that the two leaders had agreed that cooperation between the Pakistan People’s Party and MQM would continue to strengthen democratic system in the country.

Matters relating to the coalition government in Sindh also came under discussion and Mr Hussain expressed concern over the worsening law and order in Karachi.

The PPP leader thanked Mr Hussain for the MQM’s role in the election of Raja Pervez Ashraf as the new prime minister.
