Five inmates from India arrive
LAHORE, July 7: Five prisoners released from Indian jails on completion of their sentences entered Pakistani territory at Wagah on Saturday.
Muhammad Shakir Ali, 26, of Raiwind, Baba Yaseen, 70, of Faisalabad, Singhar Ali, 31, and Ramzan, 40, of Sindh and Muhammad Anwar were confined in different jails over multiple allegations.
Shakir told reporters he crossed into India inadvertently and had to spend eight years in Jammu jail.
He said both the countries should release all those citizens who inadvertently crossed border in the past on humanitarian grounds.
According to an Edhi Foundation spokesman, four prisoners were handed over to them who were taken to Gulberg Edhi Homes. He said Shakir and Yaseen were later handed over to their heirs.
The spokesman said the prisoners were earlier served food and drinks at the border.
