Twitlit: TS Prompts and Super Short Stories.
"In 140 characters you can convey an incident but cannot create a story because a story needs development of characters," says author, novelist and translator Musharraf Ali Farooqi during the session "Twitlit: TS Prompts and Super Short Stories."
Farooqi, the critically acclaimed translations of Urdu classics, The Adventures of Amir Hamza, has been shortlisted for the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2010, the India ComicCon award, and longlisted for the 2010 IMPAC-Dublin Literary Award.
Omer Wahaj, another speaker in the session, is writing a novel based on tweets, which is currently around 8000 words. He writes four to five tweets in a session and wants the novel to go up to 30000 words.
They make sense as stand alone tweets but the context needs to be understood at times, explains Wahaj.
