Zardari wants to protect black NRO law: Baloch
LAHORE, July 15: Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary-General Liaquat Baloch has said that President Asif Ali Zardari is continuing a policy of confrontation with institutions only to protect him and the black NRO law.
According to a press release issued here on Sunday, Mr Baloch while addressing a JI workers convention in the city said that after degrading the high office of the National Assembly Speaker for his selfish interest, the President had maneuvered the passing of a most shameful law on the contempt of court.
He made it clear to President Zardari that the people had launched a historic struggle for the supremacy of judiciary and would not care even of their lives to protect the Constitution and judiciary.
Commenting on the appointment of Justice (retired) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim as the Chief Election Commissioner, the JI secretary-general said the new CEC would have to face a big challenge for holding fair and free elections in the presence of President Zardari and bogus electoral lists.
