Decosse, Song land judo titles
LONDON, Aug 1: Lucie Decosse of France won the women’s 70-kilogram Olympic judo gold medal on Wednesday after a final marked by aggressive grabbing and pulling that sometimes resembled a schoolyard fight.
The top-ranked Decosse defeated Kerstin Thiele of Germany in the final to improve on her silver at the Beijing Games.
The women’s bronze medals were won by Yuri Alvear of Colombia and Edith Bosch of the Netherlands.
In the men’s 90-kilogram division, Song Dae-nam of South Korea won the gold medal. Song defeated Cuban Asley in a closely contested final that went into overtime.
