LARKANA, Aug 3: The Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) will soon set up a workshop in Larkana to repair burnt and damaged transformers. This was decided in a meeting held in Karachi on July 30.

The meting was presided over by MNA Faryal Talpur and attended by Commissioner Larkana Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Aleem Lashari, Chief Engineer, Superintendent Engineer Sepco and Medical Superintendent of Chandka Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). This was disclosed to Dawn by Superintendent Engineer of Sepco Habibullah Shaikh.

Chief Engineer of Sepco agreed in principle for setting up a workshop in Larkana to facilitate in repairing transformer instead of seeking Hesco’s help which also delayed the work.

It was further said in the meeting that the process of upgrading the existing Larkana’s 66KV grid station to 132KV was in progress on a contract of 18 months.

The meeting was also told that the existing system would be upgraded to overcome frequent tripping of feeders originating from the newly-constructed 132KV grid station and three feeders would also be switched to it.
