Sherry Rehman discusses ties with US lawmaker

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman met with Congressman Dan Burton, a Republican from Indiana, and discussed ways to enhance Pakistan-US relationship.

Congressman Burton is a senior member of the House of Representatives, having served in the Congress for thirty years. He is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and chairs the Sub-Committee on Eurasia and Central Asia. He is also the Republican co-chair of the Pakistan Caucus in the House.

According to the Pakistani embassy on Friday, Ambassador Rehman thanked Rep Burton for his longstanding support to Pakistan.

The Pakistani envoy apprised the lawmaker of the recent positive developments such as the opening of the GLOCs, and discussed ways to strengthen the relationship further.

Rep Burton, recalling Pakistan’s friendship with the United States through the Cold War and subsequently, offered all assistance in giving sustenance to the relationship and promoting better understanding between the two countries, the embassy added.
