Pillion-riding ban in city, Hyderabad

KARACHI, Aug 7: The Sindh government has imposed a four-day ban on pillion-riding in Karachi, whereas Hyderabad will endure the same restriction for three days.

A notification issued by the home department on Tuesday stated that pillion-riding on motorcycles and scooters, and carrying or display of weapons had been banned from the 19th to 22nd of Ramazan.

For Hyderabad, the ban will be in force from the 20th to 22nd of Ramazan.

The ban will not apply to women, children below 12, senior citizens, journalists, personnel of law-enforcement agencies in uniform and employees of essential services, the notification added.

The ban has been imposed in view of intelligence reports suggesting that certain elements are plotting to create a serious law and order situation on the occasion of Yaum-i-Ali.—Staff Reporter
