Musharraf blamed for missing persons issue
NOWSHERA, Sept 13: Provincial chief of Jamaat-i-Islami Professor Mohammad Ibrahim on Thursday said the issue of missing persons was created during the government of Pervez Musharraf when it was an ally of the US in its so-called war on terrorism.
He said this while talking to reporters late on Wednesday at the party’s Nowshera office after inquiring after religious scholar Maulana Dr Sher Ali Shah in Akora Khattak.
JI district chief Merajuddin was also present on the occasion.
Professor Ibrahim opposed the visit of a United Nation delegation to Pakistan regarding missing persons and said the UN was an anti-Muslim organisation, which ignored more serious issues of Muslim world, including Indian atrocities against Kashmiris, than visiting Pakistan on missing person issue.
He said the UN team’s visit to Pakistan had generated doubts about the credibility of the government and the military.
The JI leader said the visit was meant to serve the US interests.
He said things in the region would automatically improve if the US pulled out its troops from Afghanistan.
Professor Ibrahim alleged that the government was using Shakeel Afridi as a weapon against the army to blackmail it on different issues.
