NOWSHERA: PAF cadets awarded degrees

NOWSHERA, Dec 28: Two convocations were held at two colleges of the Pakistan Air Force Academy on Saturday.

Bachelor of Science degrees were awarded at the College of Flying Training (CFT) to the 110 General Duty (Pilot) Corps and at the College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE), Risalpur, to the students of the 56th Engineering Corps.

During the first convocation ceremony at the College of Flying Training, Professor Ahmed Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of the Peshawar University, awarded the degrees of B.Sc to the Aviation cadets of 110 GD(P) Corps. Aviation cadet M Raheel Shaukat received the “Best Performance Trophy in Aero Science Subject” while Asghar Hussain bagged the “Ground Subjects Trophy” for overall best performance in academics. The “Best performance in Humanities Subjects Trophy” was won by aviation cadet Bilal Hasan Babri.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ahmed Ali Khan said military education had a distinctive purpose and, unlike traditional and pure scholarship, it aimed at judicious application of the acquired knowledge in a defined direction.

At the convocation ceremony held at College of Aeronautical Engineering, Lt-Gen Syed Shujaat Hussain (Retd), the Rector of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), gave away the degrees of BE to the cadets of 56th Engineering Corps. These included cadets from the PAF, the Pakistan Army, the PIA, Nust and two paying cadets.

The Rector’s Gold Medal for best performance in Aerospace Engineering was awarded to Aviation cadet Humayun Arif, while Aviation cadet Aamir Miraj received President’s Gold Medal for the first merit position in Avionics Engineering. Merit Certificate for Best Vehicle Design was awarded to Aviation cadet Mudassar Ahmed.

Lt-Gen Shujaat Hussain, in his address on the occasion, urged the cadets to be creative and innovative.
