‘Q’ MNA from Chitral to step down

CHITRAL, Oct 5: PML-Q MNA from Chitral Shahzada Mohyuddin has decided to quit the membership of the house to protest the ‘rude and unbecoming behaviour’ of special secretary to the prime minister, who, he alleged, was flouting the directives of the premier.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said he would tender his resignation to the speaker on the floor of the house during its forthcoming session after recording his protest.

He said he called on the prime minister on 5th of last month regarding the solution of many issues confronting his constituency, including taking measures for protecting Kalash people from the intrusion of militants from Afghan border. He added the prime minister approved Rs200 million for his constituency but the special secretary to the prime minister was constantly impeding the process of the announced grant.

“Like a pendulum, I kept vibrating between the parliament lodges and the prime minister secretariat during the last one month but to no avail as the secretariat staff kept making a mockery of me and the premier,” he said. He said he was a diabetic and his health worsened during this time.

RADIO SIGNALS: The residents of upper parts of the district have demanded of the government to ensure reception of transmissions of Radio Pakistan in the morning and daytime because radio was the only source of information and entertainment there.

Talking to Dawn on Thursday, the president of a social organisation, Mahraka Golden Society, Mohammad Shafi, said poor signals of Radio Pakistan Islamabad were received in the area depriving them of the morning transmissions.
