MMA to be restored without Jamaat, says Fazl
MARDAN, Oct 21: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal would be restored without including Jamaat-i-Islami in it.
He was talking to journalists at the hujra of former federal minister Nawabzada Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti here on Sunday.
“Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal will be restored without including Jamaat-i-Islami,” he said, adding that MMA was alliance of ulema belonging to different sects and religious parties.
The JUI-F chief welcomed the verdict of Supreme Court in the Asghar Khan case and said that the verdict of the apex court should not be politicised. He said the role of secret intelligence agencies in political system of the country should be discouraged.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had the authority to put ban on political parties as well as take action against the people involved in giving and getting money for damaging the democratic system in the country, he added. Maulana Fazl said that not only the practice of using funds in politics must be stopped but politicians should also change their behaviour and adopt the habit of self-accountability.
He urged media to act responsibly and avoid trial of those politicians, who had good reputation.
He said that media should expose those parties that had been doing politics of money.
Maulana Fazl said that JUI-F neither took advantage from the NRO nor it was included in the list of ISI. The JUI-F did not belong to the extortionist political parties, he said.
“We are going to formally restore MMA excluding Jammaat-i-Islami very soon,” he said, adding that they would take decisions regarding organisational structure of MMA in the next meeting.
To a query regarding joining of JUI-F by Khawaja Mohammad Hoti, he said that he had old relations with him and soon people would hear good news in that connection.
