Pakistan junior hockey team camp in full swing
KARACHI, Oct 22: Pakistan junior hockey team’s training camp in preparation for next month’s 6-nation 2nd Sultan Johor International Tournament is in full swing here at the Hockey Club of Pakistan.
“Boys are going through rigorous morning and afternoon training sessions,” chief coach Olympian Rana Mujahid said on Monday.
“This is the toughest phase of the training camp as boys are fully tested and prepared for the task ahead.”
Australia, Germany, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and hosts Malaysia are taking part in the six-nation event which will be held in Johor Baru from Nov 11-18.
“In the presence of such a strong team, it will be a challenging event for us,” Rana said. “But it will be good exposure for the boys against top-class opposition.”
Rana Mujahid alongwith panel of coaches that include Olympian Danish Kaleem, Anjum Saeed, Abuzar Umrao are supervising the training and coaching. Dr Asad Abbas is the doctor of the team. Rana added that the selection of the team as per the new selection policy of PHF will be made on Nov 2.
Selection policy will be finalised during the Executive Board meeting on Oct 24.
Camp trainees include Mazhar Abbas (goalkeeper), Syed Kashif Shah, Mohammad Khalid, Aleem Bilal, M.Rizwan Junior, Mohammad Tousiq, Tasawar Abbas, Kashif Javed, Zohaib Ashraf, M.Urfan Junior, Umar Bhutta, Mohammad Dilber, Ali Shan, Mohammad Suleman, Hafiz Rizwan Ali, Hafiz M.Umar Sardar, Mohammad Jaffar, Amjad Ali, Ammad Shakeel Butt, Bilal Khan, Abdul Karim Khan, Absdul Fahad Khan, Faisal Qadir, M.Sohaib, Mohammad Saleem, Adnan Shakoor and Ali Haider.—APP
