Humaima Malik wins an international accolade
Pakistani actress Humaima Malik achieved another feather in her hat, by receiving another international award at “The South Asian Rising Star Film Awards” in New York on Tuesday night.
Malik was nominated for Shoaib Mansoor’s social drama 'Bol', based on a female convict on death row whose last wish is to tell her story to the media. She was nominated along with Tanistha Chatterjee (Dekh Indian Circus), Parineeti Chopra (Ishaqzaade), Rasika Dugal (Corrode) and Preeti Desai (Shor in the City).
This is not it for Bol and Malik though – she has also been nominated along with Vidya Balan (The Dirty Picture) at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs) for her role in Bol.
Ted Geoghegan from the festival, mentioned, “The films awarded last night are not necessarily films playing in this year's festival. The Rising Star Awards are given to South Asian films that have been released in the past year. For a list of films playing in the festival itself, please visit www.saiff.org”
The South Asian International Film Festival is presented by HBO. The Festival is committed to exhibiting films from South Asia (i.e Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal).
