Killing of cop spreads fear in Swabi
SWABI, Oct 29: The killing of a policeman and blowing up of a school by unidentified persons during the last few days have created a sense of insecurity among the residents of the district.
A school was blown up and two people, including a policeman, were shot dead by unidentified persons in different areas of the district.
In the first incident, Raj Mohammad, a head constable of special branch, was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists in Yar Hussain area. Sources said that two motorcyclists crossed the entrance gate of his house and shot him dead.
The policeman was killed on the spot while the motorcyclists disappeared soon after the incident. Four law-enforcers -- Arshad Ali, Ali Zar Khan, Maqbool Hussain and Raj Mohammad -- have been killed by suspected militants in the district during the last one year.
In the second incident, unidentified persons killed an Afghan refugee and snatched his motorcycle. He was living at Baraki refugees’ camp.
Mirza Khan alias Mana told police that he along with his father was cleaning his motorcycle when suddenly unidentified persons came and opened firing on them.
As result his father was injured critically. He was taken to district headquarters hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, a government primary school for girls in Sara Cheena area was blown up by suspected militants on Eid night. The explosives were planted inside the school building that went off after midnight.
The watchman of the institution said that he informed police about the incident. Police reached the area and recorded statements of local people. The two-room building of the primary school can no longer be used for imparting education to girl students.
