Hunger strike for Qureshi FIR

SUKKUR, Nov 2: Activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) set up a hunger strike camp in front of the press club of Sukkur and took out a procession in Jacobabad on Friday in protest against non-registration of the case of killing of JSQM chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi.About 30 activists observed a token hunger strike in the camp set up under the leadership of Ghulam Mustafa Phulpoto and Mazhar Abbasi.

The leaders told reporters that the case of Bashir Khan’s killing had not been registered despite a lapse of considerable period of time and his killers were roaming free, which was a cause of concern for JSQM workers.

They said that despite repeated requests and protests, the government and police authorities had not taken any notice and compelled them to go on the hunger strike.

They said the strike would be continued till registration of FIR and arrest of the culprits.

In Jacobabad, activists led by JSQM central vice-chairman Kehar Ansar took out a procession from Shaheed Allah Bux Park and reached in front of the press club where the participants staged sit-in. They were raising slogans in favour of their demand.

Addressing the protesters, party leaders Kehar Ansar, Abdul Ghaffar Mahar, Muhammad Shaman Soomro, Waris Jakhrani and Ghulam Sarwar Mastoi said history was evident that Sindhis always overlooked excesses committed against them.

They said Bashir Khan Qureshi had been killed through a conspiracy and his killing case was not being registered, which was a condemnable act.

Those struggling for the rights of Sindh and its people were being killed mysteriously, they said.
