Musharraf asked to meet MMA demands

TIMERGARA, Jan 6: Parliamentary leader of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali would have to accept the MMA’s demands or to leave the power.

Addressing various public meetings in different parts of Lower Dir in connection with the election campaign of the MMA candidate from NA-34, Maulana Ahmad Ghafoor Ghawas, Qazi said Gen Musharraf had two options either to put off the army uniform or to leave the presidency, otherwise the MMA would formulate its own line of action.

He said the people of NWFP and Balochistan rejected US supporters in the general elections and gave clear mandate to religio-political forces in the two provinces. He hoped that people would once again give vote to the MMA candidates in the upcoming by-elections.

Qazi assured the people that the MMA leadership would continue efforts for the release of Pakistani prisoners in different jails of Afghanistan.

He asked the NWFP government to provide natural gas to Dir district. He said the matter would be discussed with Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali.
