Anti-polio campaign kickstarts in Attock

ATTOCK, Dec 16: As many as 128,747 children would be administered polio drops during a three day campaign, starting Monday (today) across the district, claimed district officials.

The campaign was inaugurated by the district coordination officer Usman Ahmed Chaudhry, who administered polio drops to a child at the District Headquarters Hospital in Attock.

An official from the health department informed that the focus of the campaign would be to administer polio drops to children of 5 years and below, in the far-flung areas of the district.

For this purpose, 361 teams of vaccinators would administer drops, going door-to door and establishing fixed vaccination points, at the basic heath units and rural health centres.

The health department has also arranged transit vaccination camps at all the bus stands, railway stations, highways, toll plazas and other public places with the coordination of concerned departments, district officials said.

Moreover, 58 area managers have been appointed to monitor the polio campaign in Attock, Fatehjang, Pindigheb, Jand, Hassanabdal and Hazro district.
