Overhead bridge for Bahawalpur approved

BAHAWALPUR, Jan 12: The construction work of an overhead bridge at the railway level crossing on the Multan Road near the Small Industrial Estate will soon be taken in hand.

This was disclosed by DCO Imran Ahmed while briefing the MPAs of the ruling party, PML-Q.

He said the approval to construct the overhead bridge had been secured from the Punjab government. The bridge was estimated to cost over Rs40 million, he said.

The Punjab government had already approved this project during the Shehbaz Sharif government, but the Musharraf government had dropped it despite the dire need of the local population.

The MPAs, including Makhdoom Iftikhar Gilani, Sahibzada Muzamil Abbasi, Ahmed Nawaz (National Alliance) and Mohtarma Sitara Fayyaz, were told that the paper work for shifting the Sabzi Mandi to its new site near Karachi Morr had been forwarded to the Punjab government for its final approval.

They were also informed that work on the dualization of the Baghdadul Jadid Road would start soon with an expenditure of Rs60 million.

The MPAs assured the DCO that they would shortly submit the lists of their respective rural projects to be completed with the financial grant of Rs5 million being allocated to each MPA.
