KHAIRPUR: Hesco SDO, meter readers sacked

KHAIRPUR, Jan 14: The services of the SDO, Hesco, Gambat division, Mukhtiar Mangi, and two other meter readers were terminated on Monday on complaints of consumers regarding inflated bills.

The decision was taken by Hesco chief Tariq Arshad during a meeting with the Nazims of union councils of the district and consumers.

He, however, warned the consumers, who were found involved in power theft, would be dealt with under the law and the services of Hesco officials, abetting electricity theft, would be terminated.

He said that four Hesco employees had been dismissed within the past year for abetting power theft and sending inflated electricity bills while show cause notices had been served on 10 other employees.

While admitting that Hesco employees were encouraging power theft, he said that steps were being taken to put an end to this practice.

He said that 113 customer service centres had been established all over Sindh to facilitate the consumers.

He said that hesco had appointed 1,400 persons during the past year on the basis of merit and district quota.

He said that electricity had been supplied to 46 villages from the district budget.

RESIGN: The chairman of the Khairpur Citizens’ Community Board, Syed Abid Ali Shah, has resigned the other day.
