RAWALPINDI: Profiteering to be checked: Kiani

RAWALPINDI, Nov 24: The supply of daily-use commodities to the citizens will be ensured at reasonable prices, the District Nazim, Rawalpindi, Raja Tariq Kiani, said.

He was inaugurating the Sasta Bazaar at Shamsabad where chicken would be sold at cheap rates on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Nazim said the district government had taken steps for the supply of eatables to the citizens at cheaper rates.

He said teams had been constituted, comprising assistant commissioners, magistrates and health department officials, that would conduct raids on shopkeepers and traders who indulged in unfair profiteering throughout the district.

He said these teams would take action against shopkeepers and traders who sold commodities at higher prices during Ramazan.

He said those who indulged in profiteering would be dealt with according to law.

Meanwhile, Mr Kiani requested the chairman of the Poultry Association, Dr Mohammad Amjad, and its convener Dr Hasan Sarosh Akram to reduce the wholesale rate of chicken from Rs46 to Rs44 per kg.
